This chapter discusses CERA’s Housing Recovery Programme which responded to the residential housing and land damage caused by the Canterbury earthquakes. Rebuilds and repairs were slowed due to on-going aftershocks and the complex insurance and rebuild context. Secondary stressors associated with housing repair affected people’s wellbeing. This chapter describes the activities undertaken by CERA and partners to support people through the housing recovery while also addressing the technical issues that arose.
